Concepts of Equality

• Identical: no DOM level differences inside the root element (XMLUnit always ignores the prolog.)

• Similar: some differences allowed:

  • Element Order

  • Namespace prefixes

  • Attribute defaulted or present

  • Boundary whitespace (optional)

  This is tested by assertXMLEqual()/assertXMLNotEqual().

• Not equal: clearly different information content
